Be forewarned that this product does not act instantly. I was aware of this and took appropriate precautions. Spraying took place in the early morning, maybe an hour before sunrise, before I headed off to work to ensure that the yellow-jackets were in their nest for the night. I cut the tip off the plastic tube so that I could insert it as far as possible into the entrance to the nest. I sprayed until the foam started to come out of the nest at which point I waited until the next morning before using another application. This yielded approximately 5 applications from a single can. The foam seemed act as a barrier to prevent exit from the hive, but does dissipate after several minutes.
Yellow-jacket activity continued but diminished each day for about a week to 10 days after the first application after which there were literally hundreds of dead yellow yellow jackets on the ground outside the nest.
I would strongly recommend this product based on my experience, but keep in mind that this does not kill the yellow-jackets instantly on contact.
This is one of those products where you'll probably have to shake it occasionally during use, but you won't want to shake it and splatter foam from the tip. I recommend having a small plastic bag handy to put over the end of the straw when you have to shake it, and I also recommend wearing a glove at least on the hand you'll be using to move the nozzle around. Or tape a stick to the nozzle so you don't have to touch it directly.
This product foams up somewhat and will help to wet down tunnels, etc, but it's not enormously foaming, and the foam melts quickly. It did mildly stain the wood I used it on, if that matters to you. The can had enough to fairly heavily treat about twenty linear feet of intermittent termite tubes and holes.

I've tried a variety of products, but they keep coming back.
I don't mind going out there with a wiffle bat or tennis racket for some occasional sport, but it would still be great to be able to walk to the front door without those jerks buzzing around in my face, and I'd really like to not have to replace my railings.
They always get into the underside of the bottom rail where there's only about 2" of space to work in.
If you know carpenter bees you know how they eat those perfectly round 3/8" holes into the wood and leave the telltale piles of wood pulp puke underneath.
As with the other products I've tried over the years, I sprayed this stuff directly into the holes for a few seconds to ensure that it got all the way inside the railing.
With most of the products that I've used, the days after the treatment I'd find dead bees under the holes and I wouldn't see any flying for the next few weeks.
I've always filled the holes once I stopped seeing the bees around, to try and prevent them from reappearing and using the same holes to lay more eggs.
It seems they always show up again sooner or later no matter what I do.
Having used this stuff as soon as it arrived, and then again a few weeks later, I haven't noticed the usual dead bees under the railings, and although there doesn't seem to be as many, they're still buzzing around the area on a warm, sunny day.
I also found a few new holes that showed up between the first and second applications of this stuff.
My main gripe is that the applicator is a flexible, rather droopy, soft plastic tube. That flexibility might be perfect for some applications, but certainly not for carpenter bees when you're up on a ladder filling holes in the fascia trim. I've docked them a couple of stars for that. As a kludge, I've fashioned a splint from a chop-stick and some rubber bands, which is an improvement over the droopy applicator but it would be great if they made this product available with a rigid applicator tube, like the one on the foam insulation for windows that is sold in cans.
