I'm using this product for moles and now gophers. We haven't had rain lately so I've been watering the yard to get this stuff activated. Since I'm in FL I didn't want the sun to deteriorate the product and I want these suckers out of my yard! After running the sprinklers for a while then shutting off, I could actually smell the castor oil just walking outside, so I hope this runs them off! I'm on the last treatment of 3, and out of product, so fingers crossed!Update: So after rain, it didn't make a difference in the amount of mounds I'm seeing in the yard. I'd have to say this product is a fail here in FL. I wanted to run then off but now I'll have to look into alternatives! Wasted money 100%
I've had mole challenges for 30 years. I have an aversion to killing them, would rather they just go away. When I started using this product they did go away. I watch for the first sign of the moles coming back and then apply the granules with a spreader. I put it everywhere and let them just figure out how to get away. If you spread it in stages, then they could multiply by the time you make it to the whole property. I try to time it before a slow soaking rain and not a huge rain because it will wash it away. But get it out at the first signs and have some on hand so you don't loose any time reacting if you see any sign of them coming back. If there isn't any rain, then you'll need to water it in manually. Great product. I don't use anything else any more. I like the big buckets too.
Last winter we had an infestation of voles that burrowed beneath the grass in a number of areas and killed the grass. In doing research I found this product that reportedly works well. It was very easy to use spreading with a small Scott hand held grass spreader set on 2. You do not have to put it on heavily according to instructions to deter voles or moles as they hate the castor smell which it the basis of the repellent. It is also totally pet and environmentally friendly which is definitely important if you have pets or small children. If it works well over the winter I would definitely give it five stars, It is also very economic in this size which should last for some time.

This product is suitable only in porus or sandy soil. In clay or difficult-to-drain soils the product does not sink into the soil where it affects the moles as they transit the lawn. Rain simply washes it away. Light rain causes it to puddle in low spots where it simply dries out near the surface of the ground. This product must sink through the soil to prove an irritant for the tunnelers. For my application in Missouri it is a failure. For my son in Florida it works well.
This product is good the directions does state that you will see a lot of activity the first few days, which is what happened but for 4 weeks after didn’t have a single mole hole. After the 4 weeks I noticed 2 new holes and I reordered and placed again I’m sure it will work like the first round. We used to have 5-10 holes a day our yard looked like a battle field. I also didn’t really follow directions it says it only needs certain amount per square foot I used the whole gallon in my yard and it last 4-5 weeks 40 bucks a month is better then hundreds for a service like terminex. I’m not sure where the moles went as I haven’t seen them in my neighbors yard they may have gone to the green belt behind our yard. But better then them in my crawl space and sides of house. I really recommend this I watered it a little after putting on, but it’s easier if you pick a day that’s going to rain the next day or same day you put it. If it doesn’t rain a lot in your area water it for like 10-15 mins that’s what I did. So far I give it 5 stars
