Stay a step ahead of mole and gopher invaders with Victor Mole & Gopher Repellent. It uses a dual action formula to target the senses of burrowing animals, such as moles, gophers, voles, armadillos, and more. It’s formulated with castor oil, so it’s safe to apply on lawns and gardens when used as directed. Plus, the 10 lb bag offers up to 10,000 square feet of coverage. For your convenience, this repellent comes in a resealable bag for easy storage. After applying, water the product into the ground to activate the granules. Once watered in, the granules will penetrate underground tunnels, making the ground smell and taste unpleasant and drive them away before they have a chance to do further damage around your yard. Avoid treating the entire lawn in one application – this may cause moles to tunnel wildly in any direction to escape the repellent. Applying the granules over the lawn in stages will steadily herd moles away from the treated lawn area.

How to Apply Mole & Gopher Repellent
Every mole invasion is different, so it is important to think about your strategy before applying the granules. You should first identify the mole areas with the most activity and decide which direction to herd them out of the yard. Note: Application may require more steps depending on the size of your yard. Day 1 - Spread the granules over the first area and water-in with a sprinkler for approximately 20 minutes. Watering allows the concentrated granules to penetrate deeply into the lawn. Day 2 - Spread the granules over the second area. Water-in the same are as Day 1, as well as the second area to get the mole moving. Each day’s watering allows the granules to penetrate more deeply. Day 3 - Spread granules over the third area. Water-in the same areas as Day 1 and 2, as well as the third area to keep the mole moving. Day 4 - Spread the granules over the fourth area. Water-in the same areas as Days 1, 2, and 3, as well as the fourth area to move the mole out of the yard.
Features and Benefits
Dual-Action Repelling
Victor Mole & Gopher Repellent works by slowly driving burrowing animals away in stages. The fast-acting formula targets multiple senses for dual-action repelling. Once inside the tunnel, the granules make everything in the tunnel smell and taste unpleasant, sending the unwanted pests scurrying to find a more favorable place to live.

As expensive as this Victor M7002-2 Mole & Gopher Repellent 10 Lb. bag is (our Total Cost $21.19) it would be nice if the manufacturer provided the proper weight for this item. Of course product settles and bag does not look as full...but weight does not change. Victor advertises this product as a 10 Lb. Bag. It is clearly only 8.02 lbs. (which basically is equivalent to a consumer loss of $4.23 in product. We do like this product...but we would appreciate receiving what we paid for, and as the manufacturer promotes the product to be.
I have accepted the fact that I will always have gophers and moles pop up in my yard sometimes. I live in a residential neighborhood in California and have a good size yard where I am growing some trees and bushes. Gophers and moles have been creating unsightly mounds and disturbing my plants, so I have tried different things to control them. I have noticed that areas treated with this repellent have fewer gophers. The repellent seems natural and I am not concerned about using it around trees that produce edible gruit. The only drawback of this is that it needs regular application and lots of water.
A bit overpriced. I used this to spread on chip bark Xeriscape planting area so it would eventually water/seep in. Seemed to work. I use the plain full strength castor oil in a dilution hose end sprayer for large lawns or planting areas, since it is much cheaper for large coverage. The ingredient Castor Oil does work. You'll need to reapply at least annually or up to twice a year.
I battled moles in our 1 acre yard for years. No matter how many I caught with scissor traps, more would show up from neighboring yards. In the year leading up to using this product I caught a minimum of 2 moles per week and in some cases caught multiple per day. I used a heavy application around the perimeter of our yard in hopes that it would keep new moles from coming in. After a good dose of rain and catching the remaining moles already present the yard, iv had ONE mole in the last year. No exaggeration… from 100+ moles in a year to 1. Bottom line, it works.
I have never really been able to tell what kind of animal is burrowing my yard. I sent photos to our state agency for identification. They thought it may be armadillos. I don't want to kill them, I just want them to leave my yard, so traps or cages aren't what i want to use . Earlier I tried those flashing lights to no avail. Probably the only way I am going to know if the repellant works is to see if the burrows eventually disappear. I will only resort to killing them as a last resort.
Unfortunately, this did not work for me at all. The more I used the more gophers arrived — many bringing their friends. They appear to love it. There is now a fully featured, underground megalopolis under my yard with hundreds of miles of tunnels. From my kitchen window, they pop their little heads up and taunt me while munching on my grass. Like the crows and seagulls in Hitchcock's "The Birds." The product is a boon to modern gophers.
It did seem to work initially, but now I swear they eat the stuff. And unfortunately you can’t return empty bags.
Also it claims it covers 5-10,000 sq ft (other brand with exact same ingredients and ratios states 5000 sq ft), but that’s misleading as it’s only for one application. Per their instructions, you need four applications each, and also need to repeat every 3 months. Plus I would recommend you go heavier for it to work. (Btw, Scott’s manual handheld crank spreader works well to distribute .)
Therefore realistically one large bag will keep less than 1000 sq ft (50’ X 20’) clear of new gopher digging for only a maximum of 3 months. Yearly, that’s a high price for a humane solution.
However if you could drive them out of your lawn with increasing coverage area per application, you might be able to set up a perimeter band around your property of high concentration product to keep them out (an underground wall if you will). I tried that but got to the point I was pouring the stuff down the holes and using 3-4 times the recommended amounts (an entire bag in a 20’ by 30’ area), and the next day there was 4 more gopher hills.
Unless you have a small yard and garden to protect just temporarily, and don’t mind spending $100s every year, save your money and find another solution.
