From the manufacturer

TERRO Ant Dust

TERRO Ant Dust

How It Works

Arm yourself against ants and other annoying pests- including fire ants and carpenter ants, boxelder bugs, cockroaches, crickets, firebrats, spiders, ticks, wasps and silverfish - with this unique, ready-to-use dust. The waterproof dust won’t wash away in the rain and will remain effective up to eight months. Ideal for crack and crevice treatments, as well as application directly to fire ant hills, TERRO Ant Dust can be used both indoors and out.

Indoor Use for the TERRO Ant Dust

Apply TERRO Ant Dust as a surface, spot, or crack and crevice treatment to indoor areas where insects crawl and hide. Apply the insecticide lightly and uniformly directly from the convenient, easy-to-use shaker can or into cracks and crevices using a bulbous duster, paint brush or other suitable means. For the treatment of ants, apply the ant dust to ant trails, around doors, windows and other places where ants are found entering the premises. Pay particular attention to service ducts; wall voids; areas around electrical equipment, water and sewer pipes; under and behind cabinets, refrigerators and sinks; around windows and door frames; along baseboards; in attics and crawl spaces.

Outdoor Use for the TERRO Ant Dust

Apply TERRO Ant Dust around windows and doors, porches, screens, eaves, patios, garages, under stairways, in crawl spaces and other areas where pests like to hide. To help prevent indoor invasions, apply the product thoroughly and uniformly to foundations and crawl spaces where pests are active and may find entrance to your home. To treat fire ant mounds, evenly sprinkle approximately one tablespoon of TERRO Ant Dust over the top of each mound. Do not water in or disturb the mound. Apply when temperatures are between 65° and 80°F and allow three to four days for maximum control. Repeat application if ants are still active. The amount of ant dust to apply will vary with the site but should typically be in the range of 0.5 lbs. of product per 1,000 square feet.

Don't waste your time with anything else. This stuff works.
This stuff works! Our warehouse in an industrial area is swarming with sugar ants. We have professional pest control and they couldn't get rid of them. Their treatment killed them by the tens of thousands, but there were just as many to replace them. They seemed to be after moisture as we were in a drought. I tried Maple syrup and borax which works well. Killed them by well, but still more kept coming. Ordered the stick in the ground bait traps by same company. Put them close to the hole under the foundation where I think the colony is. They emptied 4 traps in a day. They still kept coming. Ordered the DuPont gel bait. They didn't touch it. Tried some powder by the front door where they were swarming. Next day, they were gone. Not an ant in sight. Put powder around one side of the building (they were entering from two sides). Completely shut them down. Put some powder in our second (unused) warehouse where they were swarming. Checked 2 days later and traffic was reduced by 75% and dead ants everywhere. Put some around the warehouse rest room that we were literally filling a dust pan a day of dead ants. Next day, none were present. I found their main entry point to the colony and nuked that hole. Only a few survivors walking through it the next day. I have pretty much surrounded the perimeter of the building. I found maybe a start of a new colony in the parking lot and dusted that area.In conclusion, this stuff works. I am not sure if they are avoiding the area or have simply died off. Evidence kind of suggests both. I just walked though the 5000 sq ft. warehouse and saw on ant. Everything else (except the gel bait) killed them as well, but did nothing to keep them out or diminish them. I will keep vigilant and make sure that they don't come back with this trusty powder. The picture is what the floor of the bathroom looked like every morning.Update. Amazon listing says 1 pound, but I have ordered it twice now and received 2 pounds each time. Also, take the waterproof claim with a grain of salt. We had a decent rain last night and a lot of it washed away. Still keeping my 5 star rating however.
