From the manufacturer
Termidor Foam (termiticide/insecticde)
Termidor FOAM contains Fipronil, the same active ingredient as Termidor SC, in a RTU (ready-to-use) foam that is labeled for termites and ants. Perfect for spot treatments, Termidor FOAM expands rapidly creating a dry foam that can be applied in the voids, harborages, galleries, and nests where insects are found. The foam generated has an expansion ratio of 30:1. In about 5 seconds 1 oz. of product becomes approximately 1 quart of foam.
Baits can take years to control a termite colony. Termidor begins working immediately to wipe out termites inside and immediately surrounding your home. Termidor is the most effective and fastest at completely eliminating termite populations--up to six-times faster than bait.
Termidor is made from a revolutionary new nonrepellent or "undetectable" chemical technology treatment. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid Termidor. Instead they contact, ingest, and share it with their nestmates.

Product Description

Termidor foam can be applied in & around residential & commercial structures; structural & non-structural elements that are prone to insect attack (such as fences, utility poles, landscape timbers, bridges, or under slabs); or insect Harborages. This product can be applied from the interior &/or the exterior according to label Directions. To access some Harborages the drilling of holes may be required. Termidor foam helps to fulfill the localized interior (li) component of a exterior perimeter/localized interior (EP/li) treatment (also known as perimeterplus).

I live in Los Angeles, CA. Termites are a way of life here. However, when swarming season came around this year (September and October) we had a HUGE problem in our apartment that our landlord only gave us toxic shit from Home Depot that does NOTHING to actually stop the termites from coming into your apartment or house. He was not even about to tent, so we had to take matters into our own hands as he ALSO wouldn't hire an exterminator (because they'd probably tell him to tent the building). Well, after a lot of frustration and thinking we needed to move to not have this happen again next year, I found this AMAZING product.
It took FOREVER to get to me - in fact, I'd deduct a star if I could BUT this is a review solely for the efficacy of this product.
We had a TERRIBLE swarm in our apartment end of September. Like 150-200 termites crawling in through the wood floors, window sills, they'd eaten the baseboard, and there was a huge hole in the wood floor they had eaten. I'd see a baby termite fly in and out of the window sills over the last couple of years but never thought anything of it until those babies became adults and swarmed my entire living room. It was a nightmare! Nothing my landlord did fixed the problem - he replaced the baseboards, caulked the window sills, sprayed crap from Home Depot into some parts but hey guess what, genius, they make new holes and to come through! We had taped 2 windows completely shut just so they'd stop flying through them. Basically every time the temp got over 80 degrees was when more termites would come out. In fact, they were flying out of the outside of the building and into our windows it was so bad. We were so fed up we were going to move when I thought I'd give it one more shot - and I bought this stuff.
So fast forward a month, of course we were still dealing w this problem. Basically, the Saturday before a huge, HUGE heat wave hitting LA, we put this stuff in the wall where they seemed to be the worst between each stud (above and below the windows), between each stud in the ceilings, and between the joists in the wood floor. We didn't have a clue as to how well it would work but we knew the reviews of this stuff were so stellar that we'd at least be able to have hope this time around.
Saturday: 85 F, administered treatment
Sunday: 87 F, no termites
Monday: 95 F, 1 termite, one set of wings
Tuesday: 96 F, no termites
Wednesday: 93 F, no termites
YOU GUYS - THIS IS HUGE! This stuff is everything and really works! It worked within like 48 hours. We're officially free of termites as far as I'm concerned. I'm going to keep my eye on the area for the next couple of months but am basically going to tell my landlord to ditch the Home Depot products and to adopt this. You don't have to tent a building anymore (as I read a bunch of reviews from people that had to turn to this product AFTER getting their home tented and it not working). You just have to kill them where they live and THIS does that. It's fantastic!!!!
10/10 would buy again!
Termidor was very easy to use - I took a 1/4" drill and made a series of holes in the drywall between studs then with a pair of latex gloves held the black cone shaped tip against the hole and squeezed for a few seconds straight until I could hear the foam coming out slower as the space behind the drywall was filled and foam was slowly pushing out as soon as I removed the tip. I repeated this around the infected area until I ran out of foam.
I let it stay like that for a day, then used spackling paste and paint to seal and hide the ugly holes. It has been a month now, no pinholes reappeared and everything looks good.
Of course, time will tell if this is a permanent solution, but the price I paid for this canister and the fairly low effort level is certainly worth trying it (calling the pros is expensive!)
The foam does not smell bad, and since it flows slowly it is very easy to control it so it doesn't end up messing up the place. I am not a pro and it was easy enough to apply it safely.
My only mild critique was that it was shipped with the plastic tube bent (kinked) which could weaken it or even crack it. I was lucky and the tube didn't get punctured otherwise the product would have been useless. They should take better care to ship it without kinking the tube (simply rolling the tube and taping it around the canister would have done the trick)
