Easy to assemble and install, seems well-built. I think it is a bit expensive for what it is, and perhaps not as effective as I would like. I am not using any lure with it.

Anyhow, I bought this trap. It’s very well made, super easy to assemble (just screw the jar to the box), has a decent sized chain (about a foot long and strong enough to hold this lightweight trap), and a nail was even included for hanging. It actually took me longer to find my hammer than it did to assemble and hang the trap (only a few minutes).
I’ve had it hanging for about 10 days and have caught about 10 bees. It’s not “slaughtering” them, but steadily wiping them out. Also, many of the last 10 days have been cool, cloudy, and rainy here, so the bees aren’t as active on those days. However, in the last two days, it’s been sunny and warm, and about four bees have met their fate.
Overall, I’m rating this trap as excellent because it works as advertised, is well constructed, and I can store it over fall and winter and use it year after year in the spring and summer months. Plus, I don’t have to pay an exterminator a small fortune to spray a bunch of poison.
**Note: One thing I learned in my research is that carpenter bees don’t like to drill into stained wood. My deck is stained, but the exposed roof rafters aren’t. The only place I’ve seen holes is in the rafters, so this appears to be true.
